Huawei has announced a program to expand the internal storage for its old smartphones.

Owners of older models who do not have as much memory as they would like will be able to increase the storage capacity to 128, 256 or 512 GB. Primarily to free up space for the Harmony OS without losing valuable files.

To expand the memory, you need to contact the service center. The service is not free – it costs about $57. True, there is a specific update schedule and a list of devices that can take part in the program.

So, already now they can update:

  • Huawei Mate 9 series
  • Huawei Mate 10 series
  • Huawei Mate RS series
  • Huawei Mate 20 series
  • Huawei Mate 30 series
  • Huawei P10 series
  • Huawei P20 series
  • Huawei P30 series

In the period from August to December, the following will join the program:

  • Huawei Nova 2s
  • Huawei Nova 3 and Nova 3i
  • Huawei Nova 4
  • Huawei Nova 5 series
  • Huawei Nova 6 series
  • Huawei Nova 7 series
  • Huawei Enjoy 10 series

The program is currently only available in China, but if successful, it could expand to overseas markets.
