Hundreds of members of the Afghan security forces surrendered to the Taliban near the city of Kunduz, said Amruddin Wali, a member of the ruling council of the province of the same name.
“This morning, hundreds of soldiers, policemen, and members of the resistance forces who were stationed at the airport surrendered to the Taliban with all their equipment,” he said.
Earlier, the Taliban announced the seizure of the administrative centers of six provinces of the country.
According to Western media, the transition of Kunduz under the control of the Taliban may mean a turning point in the development of the situation in the country.
The situation in Afghanistan worsened after the US and NATO states began withdrawing troops from the territory of the republic on May 1, which is taking place within the framework of the peace agreement signed in 2020 between the Taliban and US representatives.
