In China, the perpetrators of a new coronavirus outbreak were found after the “delta” variant of the infection spread to 31 provinces of the country; more than 40 representatives of local authorities were punished. CNN reports this with reference to the report of the health department.

At the time of publication, more than a thousand infected people with obvious symptoms of COVID-19 were recorded; this is the worst officially recognized outbreak of the disease in China over the past year. Local authorities, in accordance with the regulations, have introduced strict quarantine measures.

Where these steps failed, the culprits were identified – these are 47 representatives of the administrative and medical authorities at different levels. It is not reported what kind of punishments they were subjected to. The publication notes that the source of the new outbreak has been identified. The infected person arrived by plane from Russia to the city of Nanjing.
