The authorities of Miami-Dade County have decided to stop search operations on the ruins of a high-rise building that collapsed on June 24. As a result of this disaster, at least 97 people were killed.
One person is considered missing. The police department of the district will continue sifting through the wreckage in search of the remains of the victims and their personal belongings.
Search and rescue operations were conducted around the clock for four weeks.
The mayor of Miami-Dade County, Daniella Levine Cava, released a statement in which she called the participants of the rescue operation “real superheroes.”
Rescuers have given up hope of finding survivors of the July 7 disaster. The remains of 96 people were found under the rubble, one more person was found alive, but died in the hospital.
