Germany has launched the process of reorienting coal imports from Russia, other supplier countries are being considered, as well as the issue of creating a coal reserve, representative of the German Ministry of Economy Beate Baron said at a briefing in Berlin.

“Apparently, there is a need for revision. The share of coal supplies from Russia is almost 50 percent now; this imported coal is used by coal-fired thermal power plants. We have started work to launch a process that provides for the promotion of supplies from other countries, as well as the creation of a coal reserve,” Baron said.
