The official representative of the German government, Steffen Seibert, said that the topic on which the United States and Germany are negotiating is the “Nord stream-2” gas pipeline.

At the same time, the representative of the German Ministry of Economy, Beate Baron, stressed that all permits for the construction of the “Nord stream-2” were “issued many years ago,” Free News reports.

“Nord stream-2″ is a topic, as we have stated many times, on which we are negotiating with the American side,” Seibert said.

According to him, Germany’s position on the project has long been known.

Earlier, the White House announced a meeting between US President Joe Biden and German Chancellor Angela Merkel, which is scheduled for Thursday. One of the main issues in the discussion will be the “Nord stream-2” gas pipeline.

Work on laying the gas pipeline pipes began in 2018. “Nord stream-2” is planned to be completed this year.

The US opposes the construction of the project, regularly imposing sanctions. However, the President of the United States, Joe Biden, called the restrictions on the gas pipeline “counterproductive.” Germany and the United States are holding consultations to prevent damage to Ukraine.
