A native of Afghanistan, who wounded seven passers-by with a cold weapon in Sweden in March, has been sentenced to life imprisonment, local radio station Radio Sweden reports, citing the court decision.

The incident in the city of Vetlanda in southern Sweden occurred in early March. As a result of the attack, seven people were injured; the attacker himself was wounded by police during arrest and taken into custody. The man was charged with seven attempted murders.

It is reported that the convicted person was also ordered to pay compensation in the amount of one million Swedish kronor (about 116 thousand US dollars). The Afghan pleaded guilty to only three attacks, he could not explain the reason for his act.

According to local media reports, the man came to Sweden from Afghanistan in 2018.
