A thirteen-year-old teenager was driving a pickup truck that collided with a minibus in the US state of Texas, resulting in the death of nine people. This was announced on Thursday by the U.S. Deputy Chairman of the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) Bruce Landsberg.

“A thirteen-year-old child was driving a pickup truck,” Reuters quoted Landsberg as saying.

Earlier, CNN reported that a pickup truck drove into the oncoming lane and collided with a minibus carrying members of the men’s and women’s university golf teams and their coach. As a result of the collision, both vehicles caught fire. Six students and their coach, as well as the driver and a minor passenger of the pickup truck were killed. Two students were also reported to have suffered serious injuries.
