About a thousand people were infected with coronavirus in the Netherlands after they attended an outdoor festival in the city of Utrecht in early July, the local Dutch News reported.

It is noted that the Verknipt festival, which took place on the first weekend of July, was visited by a total of 20 thousand people. At the same time, visitors were allowed to attend the event only if they had a QR code of a vaccinated or ill COVID-19, or if they had a negative test result for coronavirus.

To date, the festival in Utrecht has become the largest source of the spread of coronavirus in the country. The mayor of Utrecht, Sharon Dijksma, was also present at the festival, as evidenced by a photo that she posted on Twitter on July 3.
