In the United States, migrants from Haiti were detained

A group of 42 migrants from Haiti were taken into custody after they disembarked in South Florida. The ABC TV channel reports this with reference to the federal authorities.

According to it, the U.S. Customs and Border Control Service said that foreign citizens were detained near the settlement of Key Biscayne (Florida).

Officials also said that an investigation is underway into the way the group crossed into the United States. The migrant boat was detained.

On the morning of August 14, an earthquake of magnitude 7.2 occurred in the Haiti region, the epicenter of which was located 40 km from the commune of Les Cayes with a population of about 125 thousand people; the focus lay at a depth of 10 km. According to official data, 2,207 people were killed; more than 12 thousand were injured. About 130 thousand buildings, including medical and religious institutions, were completely or partially destroyed in the departments of the South, Grand-Anse, and Nippes. The government has imposed a state of emergency for a month.
