Mortality continues to decline

The number of new cases of coronavirus infection in the world this week exceeded 3.4 million, which is 300 thousand more than in the previous similar period. The incidence went up for the first time since the end of May.

However, mortality continues to decline. In seven days, 8,700 people died due to COVID-19, which is 900 less than last week, and is a new minimum since the spring of 2020.

Stabilization in America

Despite the fact that the United States has occupied the first place in the incidence of COVID in the world for the sixth week, in recent days the rate of infection has decreased slightly there, and for the first time since the beginning of June, less than 100 thousand infected people began to be detected again per day. In total, over the past seven days, about 568 thousand new cases have been registered there, which is about 93 thousand less than in the previous similar period.

In Brazil, for the second week, the incidence remains at around 40 thousand new cases per day, which corresponds to the indicators of March. In Mexico, compared with last week, the rate of infection has increased by one and a half time – now COVID is diagnosed in about 9 thousand residents per day there.

New outbreaks are also noted in Colombia, where the incidence also increased by one and a half times in a week.

Signs of a new wave in the Middle East

The rise in morbidity is observed in Asia and the Middle East. So, in Israel, about 10 thousand infected people are already recorded per day, which is the highest figure since the beginning of April. Against this background, the Director General of the Ministry of Health allowed the beginning of a new wave of the spread of COVID in the country.

The rates of spread of COVID in India have risen to February highs, where more than 12 thousand infected people are already registered daily.

In Japan, 13-14 thousand new infected people per day are detected for the second week. At the beginning of the month there were over 20 thousand of them.

The situation in the DPRK has also stabilized somewhat, where in recent days less than 30 thousand people with signs of fever have been noted (not all of them are diagnosed with COVID).

Growth in Europe

In a number of European countries, the incidence has gone up sharply. So, in France, the number of newly infected again exceeds 50 thousand per day, which has not been since the end of April. In Germany, more than 80 thousand infected people are now being detected per day, compared to last week, the incidence there has increased by almost a quarter. In Italy, in recent days, it has jumped by half at once, a small increase is noted in the UK, Belgium, Austria, etc.

Mortality

In the USA, mortality has fallen by 20%. Due to COVID, about 1.2 thousand people have died in the country over the past week, but this is still the highest figure in the world. Brazil is in second place in terms of mortality, where over 800 deaths have been registered over the past seven days, and Russia is in third place, where the number of deaths due to coronavirus for the first time since April 2020 was less than 500.
