After the introduction of new sanctions against Iran by the US, the diplomatic way of communication between the countries is closed forever. This statement was made by the official representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Iran Abbas Musavi on Twitter.

“Useless US sanctions against the Supreme leader, as well as commanders forever close the path of diplomacy with the extreme us government,” the diplomat wrote. He added that the administration of the current US President is destroying international mechanisms to maintain peace.

On June 24, US President Donald Trump introduced new restrictive measures, including those aimed at Iran’s Supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

Earlier, the US special representative for Iran Brian hook said that Washington is ready to lift sanctions against Tehran in case of a new comprehensive deal on the nuclear program. Prior to this, the adviser to the Iranian President Hesamoddin Ashna reported that the country will not negotiate as long as sanctions remain.

Official diplomatic relations between the US and Iran have not existed since 1979 when the American Embassy in Tehran was seized during the Islamic revolution, and 52 Americans were held hostage for 444 days.
