A passenger Boeing of Ukraine International airline that crashed in Tehran was accidentally shot down because of “human error”. The General staff of the armed forces of Iran stated this.
“As a result of human error and by accident, this plane was shot down,” the General staff said in a statement, quoted by the Iranian state television and radio company IRIB.
Iranian Foreign Minister Javad Zarif wrote on his Twitter page that the crash was caused by “human error during the crisis that provoked us adventurism.” He also offered apologies and condolences to the families of those killed in the crash.
During the flight, the airliner was in “proximity to one of the important military facilities — the Islamic revolutionary guard Corps (elite units of the armed forces of Iran), and the shape and height of the flight resembled an enemy object.”
A sad day. Preliminary conclusions of internal investigation by Armed Forces:
Human error at time of crisis caused by US adventurism led to disaster
Our profound regrets, apologies and condolences to our people, to the families of all victims, and to other affected nations.
