The Ministry of Oil of Iran does not have data on the supply of oil from Iran to the United States, there are no such reports in official sources, the representative of the department, Kasra Nouri, told RIA Novosti.

Earlier, with reference to data from the Energy Information Administration of the US Department of Energy (EIA), it was reported that the US in March for the first time since November 1991 imported oil from Iran; the average daily supply was 33 thousand barrels.

“We cannot express a reaction about this published news. We do not have accurate data about these statements. We didn’t do it officially. There are no such reports in our official sources. We do not confirm this information,” the source said, adding that there is also no data on the purchase of Iranian oil by the Americans through a third country.

The representative of the ministry called this question interesting and irrational since the United States itself imposed sanctions against Iran. According to Nouri, proof of supply is needed. The last time the US imported oil from Iran was in November 1991. Then the volume of supplies amounted to 64 thousand barrels per day. At the same time, in October 2020, the United States imported oil products from Iran in the amount of 36 thousand barrels per day. These deliveries were made for the first time since at least December 1991.
