Today, July 11, the Italian national team met with the England national team. The final match of the European Championship 2020 was held at Wembley Stadium in London (England). The main and extra time of the meeting ended with a score of 1: 1. Italians snatched the victory in the penalty shootout – 3: 2. The final of the continental championship was served by a team of referees from the Netherlands, led by Bjorn Kuipers.

The scoring in the match in the 3rd minute was opened by the England national team. Flank defender Luke Shaw scored his first goal for the Three Lions. The Italian national team equalized the score in the 67th minute of the match. The goal was scored by Leonardo Bonucci, who turned out to be the most agile after a corner kick and restored equality on the scoreboard, moving the game into extra times.

No goals were scored in extra time. Thus, the European champion was determined in the penalty shootout. The Italian team turned out to be more successful and skilled in the “football lottery”. Bukayo Saka did not score the decisive penalty in the British squad.

Euro 2020 was supposed to take place last summer, but due to the coronavirus pandemic, the tournament was postponed to 2021. The matches took place since June 11 in several European cities, including St. Petersburg. The national team of Italy became the winner of the tournament.
