The maneuvers took place in the Pacific Ocean.

The Japanese Air Self-Defense Forces conducted joint exercises with the United States, in which two B-1 strategic bombers of the American Air Force took part. This is stated in a message distributed on Tuesday by the Japanese Self-Defense Forces.

The exercises took place on June 3 in the Pacific Ocean to the east of the northern Japanese prefecture of Aomori. On the Japanese side, F-15 fighters were involved in them. It is noted that the planes of the two countries have worked out maneuvers when intercepting enemy aircraft.

According to the Kyodo news agency, the exercises were probably also aimed at deterring the DPRK due to the increased frequency of ballistic missile launches this year and the alleged preparation for a new nuclear test.
