The Daily Beast writes that the Japanese authorities could hide a new strain of coronavirus to hold the Olympics in Tokyo.
According to media reports, a new type of lambda virus was discovered in the country just three days before the start of the competition.
“The Ministry of Health came to a consensus that it is better to report this information after the end of the Olympic Games,” the author of the article says.
According to the publication, the lambda strain was brought to Japan by a traveler from the United States. This variant of the coronavirus was discovered in Peru in 2020.
The Olympic Games in Tokyo are held from July 23 to August 8. They were postponed for a year due to the epidemiological situation.
