British Prime Minister Boris Johnson and his Indian counterpart Narendra Modi, in connection with the special operation in Ukraine, said that Russia should adhere to the UN Charter, Downing Street reports following the leaders’ conversation.

“They agreed that it is necessary to respect the integrity and territorial sovereignty of Ukraine. Russia must adhere to the UN Charter, the leaders said, and both agreed that respect for international law is the only way to ensure global peace and prosperity,” the message reads. Johnson also said that the UK and India should step up efforts to promote peace and de-escalation in the region.
