British Prime Minister Boris Johnson held a telephone conversation with the head of the European Commission (EC), Ursula von der Leyen.
During the talks, they noted the importance of reaching an agreement on the “Brexit” deal.
The head of the EC and the British Prime Minister also said that the negotiators had made progress on this issue. However, they pointed out that several differences remained, so they called for active work to resolve them.
“They instructed the chief negotiators to work actively to try to reduce these differences,” the communique said.
He said that the UK is ready to switch to trade with the European Union under the rules of the World Trade Organization (WTO) if the parties fail to conclude a trade agreement on time.
