The US President’s Special Envoy for Climate arrived in Moscow on July 12.

The US President’s Special Envoy for Climate, John Kerry, expressed satisfaction with Russia’s readiness to work on the climate agenda.

“We are pleased that Russia took part in the summit and that Russia is ready to take additional steps,” he said at talks with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov in Moscow.

The United States and Russia, as countries that are among the leaders in greenhouse gas emissions, need to act together on climate change, Kerry said.

“The point is to pay special attention to climate-related problems. This is very important; we really need to act together. The United States ranks second in the world in terms of greenhouse gas emissions, Russia is the fourth. We are part of the twenty countries that account for 80% of all emissions. And what we will do right now will be critically important, ” the special envoy said.
