Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that during a meeting with his Ukrainian counterpart Dmytro Kuleba, he discussed the possibility of a meeting between Russian leaders Vladimir Putin and Volodymyr Zelenskiy, but such a contact should not be “a meeting for the sake of a meeting.”

“It is well known that President Putin never refuses contacts. We just want these contacts to be organized not for their own sake, but in order to fix some specific agreements,” Lavrov said.

“By the way, we touched on this topic today… I reminded him (Kuleba) that we are always in favor of meeting if we can achieve some added value and we can solve the problem,” the Russian Foreign Minister said.

“We confirmed today that President Putin does not refuse to meet with President Zelenskiy. Perhaps someday, I hope, such a need will arise. But for this it is necessary to carry out preparatory work, which is underway on the Belarusian track. Three rounds were held. Our extremely specific proposals were taken by the Ukrainian side, and it promised us that there would be extremely specific answers. We are waiting,” Lavrov said.
