Construction work will begin in the fall.

The Danish company LEGO Group, which produces popular construction toys, plans to invest $ 1 billion in the construction of a zero-carbon plant in the US state of Virginia. This is stated in a statement published on Wednesday on the company’s website.

“Today, the LEGO Group announced plans to invest more than $1 billion in the construction of a new plant in Chesterfield County, Virginia. After completion of construction, more than 1,760 people will work at the 1.7 million square feet (160,000 square meters) facility,” the press release notes.

All the daily energy needs of the factory for the production of cubes for the designer will be covered by renewable energy generated by its own solar power plant. “The facility will be designed to minimize energy consumption and the use of non-renewable resources,” the company added.

As expected, construction work will begin in the fall of 2022, the start of production at the enterprise is planned to be launched in the second half of 2025. The new facility in Virginia will be the seventh LEGO Group plant in the world and the second in America.
