LG Electronics is updating the free LG Channels service to offer its customers an improved viewing experience.
The updated interface of LG Channels has got improved functions for recommending content. The service now analyzes the benefits of viewing and offers the most relevant content from the free content library.
With the number and viewing time of LG Channels doubling during the year, the Seoul-based company decided to expand the global availability of its premium streaming service from 14 to 25 countries. By the end of the year, the manufacturer intends to increase its coverage in Europe by 200%.
The user interface will be available on LG smart TVs running webOS 5.0, and will appear on panels running webOS 3.0-4.5 in the future. At the end of the year, the manufacturer intends to release the LG Channels app for smartphones. Residents of North America will be able to take advantage of all its first benefits.
The LG Channels library is constantly updated with fresh South Korean content thanks to the company’s cooperation with the NEW ID digital platform. LG also intends to diversify its programming with Rakuten Viki, On Demand China, BABY SHARK TV and Kids Pang TV, and more than 100 Pluto TV channels will appear on LG Channels later this year, along with Qwest TV’s global music hub.
