Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko said at the talks in Sochi that he intends to show his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin “some documents” on the situation with the Ryanair flight.
According to him, the reaction to these events indicates an attempt to destabilize the situation in Belarus and bring it to the state of August last year.
Lukashenko was also struck by the actions of the European Union after the incident.
“Why was the Belavia labor collective punished? For being in the (pandemic) COVID were they exported by the thousands? That’s their face,” he said.
The President of Belarus recalled the period last year, when due to the spread of infection, the countries evacuated their citizens from foreign resorts, because “then everything was closed.”
“One airport in Minsk was working; they were taking their people out. They (the countries of the West) all closed and asked for “Belavia”… And our company probably took out thousands, thousands of people: Swedes, Germans, Poles, Lithuanians, and Americans. We took them to Minsk, because the only airport was open, and then the Americans took them away from us, or we took them there. You can’t imagine how grateful they were at the end of last year or the beginning of this year to us, the Belavia team, for the people who were taken out and saved,” he said.
In turn, the Russian leader recalled the incident that occurred in 2013 with Evo Morales. “The plane of the President of Bolivia was once landed. The president was taken out of the plane, and nothing, silence,” Putin recalled.
