Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro ordered to open the country’s border with Colombia. He wrote about it on his Twitter page.
Border crossings with Colombia, located in the state of Tachira, will be open from June 8. “We are a peaceful people who firmly defend our independence and self-determination,” said the leader of the Bolivarian Republic.
In February, Maduro reported a break in diplomatic and political relations with Colombia and ordered Colombian diplomats to leave the country in 24 hours. As a result, more than five million Colombian citizens in Venezuela have been left without diplomatic support.
In addition to breaking diplomatic relations, Maduro gave the order to deploy troops on the border with Colombia to “protect peace and ensure the safety of people.”
