Typically, MediaTek’s processors lag behind Qualcomm’s competitors, but with the release of the Dimensity 9000, it looks like that could change.
Let us recall that the recently presented Dimensity 9000 became the first chip in the world, which is built on the 4-nanometer TSMC technology. It received one high-performance Cortex-X2 core with a maximum clock speed of 3.05 GHz. It is complemented by three medium-sized Cortex-A710 cores at 2.85 GHz and four energy-efficient Cortex-A510 at 1.8 GHz. The 10-core Mali-G710 accelerator is responsible for the graphics in the new product.
And MediaTek is making big bets on the new product. According to company representatives, the Dimensity 9000 is comparable to the Apple A15, the processor used in the iPhone 13 smartphones. In the multi-core performance test, it scores more than 4,000 points, which roughly corresponds to the A15 score. But as for artificial intelligence, here Dimensity 9000 surpasses Apple A15 by as much as 66%.
MediaTek also claims that the chip’s performance is about 35% higher than that of the Snapdragon 888, and in terms of AI it bypasses Google Tensor.
Recall that the first smartphones based on Dimensity 9000 will appear in the first quarter of 2022.
