Mexico’s largest drug cartel threatened to kill a journalist

One of the largest drug cartels in Mexico has threatened to kill a television journalist who leads a news program. BBC News reports this.

According to the publication, we are talking about the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG) — an influential criminal group founded in 2009. Representatives of the cartel were dissatisfied with the fact that the Milenio Television channel supports self-defense groups organized to resist the activities of criminals.

On the video distributed by the group, there are direct threats to the reporter Azucena to take away. The CJNG also accused the media of bias against the organization and said that members of self-defense units sell drugs. According to experts, these detachments are fighting violence in Mexican areas with a high crime rate. At the same time, some groups make deals with cartels to get weapons and money from them.

The CJNG is waging an active war with the security forces of Mexico and fighting with other criminal organizations for control over the major cities of the state of Jalisco and other regions of the country.
