Military equipment and US military personnel will pass through the Czech Republic for exercises in Hungary

In total, 600 US troops and 190 pieces of military equipment will pass through the Czech territory.

Convoys of US troops and military equipment will travel from Germany through the Czech Republic to Hungary from May 22 to May 26 to participate in the NATO exercise Saber Guardian 2021. The official representative of the General Staff of the Czech Armed Forces Magdalena Dvorzhakova reported this on Saturday.

“The US army units stationed in Germany, involved in the upcoming Saber Guardian 2021 international exercise in Hungary, will proceed to the venue starting from Saturday evening in transit through the Czech Republic,” she said. – Each of these units will be divided into three or four groups during the transit. They will contain from 10 to 20 units of military equipment. Transit will take place in the late evening or early morning hours to avoid problems on our highways [during rush hours].”

In total, 600 US troops and 190 pieces of military equipment will pass through the Czech territory. Each of the groups will stay in the republic for a maximum of 48 hours. Transit will be carried out on expressways leading from the western to the eastern borders of the Czech Republic. Parts of the US Armed Forces in the opposite direction will be held from 12 to 16 June. In Hungary, the NATO exercise Saber Guardian 2021 is planned with the participation of 13,500 troops from 16 countries and partners of the North Atlantic Alliance. The US military has been crossing the territory of the Czech Republic to participate in maneuvers since 2015. The exception was in 2020 when due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Saber Guardian was not held. Dvorzhakova informed that most of the soldiers of the US Armed Forces were vaccinated against coronavirus.
