The head of Tesla stressed that mutual suspicions of espionage undermine fruitful cooperation.
China and the United States should strengthen mutual trust, as the economic development and prosperity of the two countries ‘ companies depend on it. This was stated on Saturday by the head of the American manufacturer of electric cars Tesla Elon Musk.
“I think the United States and China would benefit if they trusted each other more,” he said during a plenary discussion held in Beijing at the China Development Forum 2021. The American entrepreneur answered questions from the audience in a video conference format.
He stressed that mutual suspicions of espionage undermine fruitful cooperation. Musk acknowledged that the US authorities ‘ distrust of some Chinese companies, such as ByteDance, which owns the TikTok social network, “was unreasonable.”
“The issue of trust is particularly relevant for commercial organizations, both for Chinese and American companies,” he added.
According to Musk, espionage can undermine the company’s image. “If Tesla went for it, its businesses would close everywhere,” he explained.
“In the end, we have to make a choice: whether to trust each other, or vice versa. I think we should strive for a future where mutual trust will be strengthened,” the head of the company concluded.
