NATO Winter Shield 2021 exercises have begun in Latvia

International military exercises WinterShield 2021 began in Latvia on Monday. This was reported by the Ministry of Defense of the Republic.

According to a report cited by the LETA agency, the exercises at the Adazi training ground will take place until December 4. Soldiers of the Motorized Rifle Brigade of the Ground Forces, the National Guard, the Lithuanian Armed Forces, the NATO Expanded Presence in Latvia Battle Group, and the U.S. Command in Europe will take part in the exercise.

During the exercises, live firing from howitzers, mortars, grenade launchers, machine guns, and small arms will be carried out daily from 09:00 to 23:00. Military equipment of the Latvian and Allied armed forces will move along the roads of the country, and military aircraft will fly in the airspace, the message says.
