Two astronauts will be completing the installation of a new solar array on the International Space Station (ISS). They did not have time to do it a week earlier as planned.
NASA astronaut Shane Kimbrough and Toma Pesce of the European Space Agency will exit Quest at around 3:00 p.m. ET, if preparations go as planned. You can watch the spacewalk live on NASA TV.
On June 16, the astronauts partially installed the first of six new solar panels on the space station, but technical issues and equipment problems delayed their operation.
Peske, who will go into outer space for the fourth time, will be wearing a spacesuit with red stripes, marking him as the leading participant in the spacewalk. Kimbro, dressed in a regular white EV2 spacesuit, will make his eighth spacewalk, NASA reports.
This will be their fourth joint spacewalk. They made two joint spacewalks during the expedition in 2017. Now they are part of the crew of the Expedition 65 station.
