NI described the scenario of a collision between Russia and the United States in the Black Sea

The National Interest analyzed the composition, equipment, and training of the Armed Naval Forces of the United States and Russia and suggested what advantages each side has.

According to the author of the material, journalist, and ex-Pentagon employee Kris Osborne, the strength of the Russian Navy is the presence of a developed submarine fleet.

“Advanced Russian submarines, of course, will greatly complicate the free and uncontrolled navigation of surface ships of the US Navy in the Black Sea,” he stressed.

At the same time, the author suggested that in the case of an open confrontation with Russia, it may also be difficult because of the smaller number of surface ships from the decks of which helicopters or attack drones can be launched.

The outcome of the conflict will largely depend on the range and accuracy of the targeting of onboard weapons systems, marine drones, sensors, and ship radars, Osborne concluded.
