The Nobel Committee announced the names of the winners of the Alfred Nobel Memorial Prize in Economics. The broadcast of the ceremony of the announcement of the laureates is conducted on the website of the Nobel Prize.
This year, three scientists became laureates of the prize: Canadian David Card and two Americans – Joshua Angrist and Guido Imbens. Сard will receive half of the reward, Angrist and Imbens will share the other half.
Card was awarded for “empirical contribution to labor economics,” Angrist and Imbens – for “methodological contribution to the analysis of cause-and-effect relationships.”
The Economics Prize is not formally included in the number of Nobel nominations and is awarded in memory of the founder of the prize, Alfred Nobel. Traditionally, its laureates are announced last as part of the Nobel Week.
