The Norwegian government has decided to transfer about 100 Mistral anti-aircraft missile systems to Ukraine, the Norwegian Ministry of Defense has reported.

“The government has decided to transfer the Mistral air defense system to Ukraine,” the ministry said in a statement on its website.

It is noted that the weapons were transferred free of charge.

The press release of the ministry says that Ukraine “depends on international support to resist Russian aggression.”

Defense Minister Bjorn Arild Gram said that the Mistral air defense system is an effective weapon that “will greatly benefit Ukraine.”

“The SAM will not be used by the Norwegian armed forces, but it is still a modern and effective weapon,” he added.
