The Russian mixed style fighter (MMA) Khabib Nurmagomedov was nominated for the prize for the main act in martial arts at the end of the year. This is reported on the website of the award.

The 32-year-old Russian has already completed his performances and does not appear in the nomination “Fighter of the Year” at the World MMA Awards. However, Nurmagomedov’s behavior in the octagon can provide him with an award in another nomination — “The Main act of the Year.”

The award organizers noted the Russian’s compassion for his opponent in his last duel with Justin Gaethje. Then Nurmagomedov refused to use a painful reception on the elbow and switched to a suffocating one, thereby saving the American from a possible injury.

Earlier, four representatives of the Absolute Fighting Championship (UFC) and one representative of Bellator would compete for the prize for the best MMA fighter. It was the Ukrainian athlete Yaroslav Amosov.

Nurmagomedov is a former UFC lightweight champion. The Russian has 29 wins in 29 fights.
