The leader of the Social Democratic Party of Germany, Olaf Scholz, became the new Chancellor of Germany.
This decision was made following a vote in the Bundestag on December 8. Scholz’s election was supported by 395 deputies, and 303 opposed.
Thus, Scholz will succeed Angela Merkel, who was Chancellor of Germany for 16 years. She was solemnly carried out from the post on December 2.
Judging by Scholz’s previous statements, Germany’s policy towards Belarus will not change. The fact is that the politician criticized Alexander Lukashenko, and also supported sanctions against the Belarusian government, including because of the situation with migrants.
