Pele is among the hundred most influential people in the world according to Time magazine.

World football legend 81-year-old Brazilian Pele called on Russian President Vladimir Putin to stop the war in Ukraine.

“There is absolutely no justification for this ongoing violence. This conflict is terrible, unjustified and brings nothing but pain, fear and hatred,” Pele said in an open letter to Putin posted on Instagram.

“The opportunity to stop it is in your hands,” the legendary footballer continues, “those that I shook during our last meeting in Moscow in 2017.”

Then Pele participated in the events of the International Football Federation (FIFA) preceding the World Cup, which was held in Russia in 2018.
