PGNiG will participate in the certification of Nord Stream 2 AG without the right of veto

The Federal Grid Agency (Bundesnetzagentur, BNA) of Germany has approved the inclusion of the Polish oil and gas company PGNiG in the certification process of the operator of “Nord stream-2” as an invited party, a representative of the German regulator told.

According to the agency’s interlocutor, this status gives the opportunity to participate in the procedural procedure, particularly to submit comments, but does not give the right of veto.

The Polish oil and gas company PGNiG has previously stated that it has received the right to participate in the certification procedure for the operator of the “Nord stream-2” gas pipeline. During it, it will prove that Nord Stream 2 AG is not suitable as an independent operator.

The Nord Stream-2 was fully completed in early September. The German regulator cannot prohibit the start of gas pumping through the pipeline, but its launch before the certification of an independent operator will be an administrative violation.
