The press secretary of the White House said that the United States does not rule out sanctions against the energy sector of the Russian Federation.

White House press Secretary Jen Psaki claims that Russia is artificially creating threats that do not exist. So she commented on Sunday on the ABC TV channel on the decision of Russian President Vladimir Putin to transfer the deterrence forces in the Russian army to a special combat duty regime.

“First of all, it fits into the line of behavior of President Putin, which we observed during this conflict. We are talking about creating non-existent threats in order to justify further aggression,” Psaki argued.

According to her, the United States does not rule out sanctions against the energy sector of the Russian Federation. “We want to take every step to maximize the effect of the consequences [for the Russian leadership] and minimize the effect for the Americans and the world community. Sanctions in the energy sector, of course, are on the table now, we do not rule them out,” she said. “But we also want to do so in order to minimize the impact on the global market.”
