Russian President Vladimir Putin held a telephone conversation with his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan, the Kremlin’s press service reports.

“Various aspects of the development of the situation around the conduct of a special military operation to protect Donbass were discussed. Vladimir Putin also informed about the course of negotiations between Russian and Ukrainian representatives,” the message reads.

Erdogan, for his part, expressed hope for a positive result of the negotiations between Russia and Ukraine. According to him, if a permanent ceasefire is declared, the way to a long-term settlement will open, according to the office of the Turkish leader.

In addition, Erdogan once again confirmed his readiness to receive the presidents of Russia and Ukraine in Ankara or Istanbul.
