Elizabeth II celebrates her 96th birthday at Sandringham Palace on Thursday. The Queen remains on the throne the longest of all British monarchs – on February 6, 2022, she celebrated her platinum jubilee on the throne – 70 years.

The Queen arrived at the Sandringham Estate in Norfolk by helicopter from Windsor Castle.

Elizabeth II will stay in a cottage on the estate, which was especially liked by her late husband, Prince Philip.

The celebration will take place in a close circle with members of the royal family and close friends. And official birthday events will be held in June.

Buckingham Palace on a festive day published archival photos of the queen and wishes to the monarch on its social networks.

In this picture from 1928, little Princess Elizabeth is two years old.

On the postage stamp issued for the monarch’s birthday, the queen is depicted with two ponies: Elizabeth II, as is known, is fond of horses and horseback riding.

The picture was taken at Windsor Castle, where the Queen now spends most of her time. Next to her are two ponies of the Felic breed, which will appear at the upcoming Royal Windsor Horse Show.
