The Russian authorities are negotiating with Finland on a regular supply of medical oxygen in the amount of 240 tons per month. This was announced by the head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade Denis Manturov.
Russia is running out of oxygen for patients with COVID-19 on mechanical ventilation in hospitals. According to representatives of the authorities, the departments have to “use absolutely all the possibilities.”
To date, hospitals have recorded a record for the growth of cases. In terms of the number of deaths from a new type of coronavirus, Russia is in second place.
Earlier, in early July, the government asked metallurgical companies to share industrial oxygen. The goal is to reduce consumption and share supplies with healthcare facilities.
However, this was not enough. The authorities requisitioned oxygen from shipbuilding enterprises, the nuclear industry and the military-industrial complex. According to Manturov, even the reserves of the Ministry of Defense from military airfields and the volumes of Roskosmos had to be connected.
In the North-West and West regions of the country, they began to import oxygen from Finland, but so far we are talking about small consignments of 20 tons.
We are currently negotiating supplies on an ongoing basis in the amount of 240 tons per month.

Now in the country 5.2 thousand patients are found on artificial lung ventilation devices, the head of the Ministry of Health Mikhail Murashkov said at the same meeting. The number of critically ill patients is growing – by an average of 7.5% per week.
