Samsung to unveil new 50-megapixel camera sensor for Galaxy S22 smartphones in September

Chinese insider Ice Universe said on Twitter that Samsung is preparing to announce its new camera sensor.

We are talking about a 50-megapixel RGBW sensor. It should be announced next month.

Interestingly, such a sensor is planned to be used in the next flagship line of smartphones Galaxy S. According to rumors, we are talking about the base models Galaxy S22 and Galaxy S22 +. As for the Galaxy S21 Ultra, it is credited with an Olympus camera with a 200MP sensor. According to an insider, it could also be announced in September.

By the way, 200 MP is not the limit. Back in April, Samsung announced the development of a sensor with a record 600 MP resolution. According to the company, such sensors “will be able to capture more detail than the human eye.” But, most likely, they will not be used in smartphones, but in drones, autonomous vehicles, IoT devices, etc.
