Samsung’s stretchable OLED display is presented

The main thing is that it was not an innovation for the sake of innovation itself — the developers came up with interesting scenarios for using the technology.

The South Korean company Samsung presented a new type of display at the Global Tech Korea 2021 event. We are talking about an OLED panel that can be stretched, which creates new scenarios for using devices.

In principle, manufacturers have shown prototypes of stretchable screens before. Still, the fact that Samsung continues to demonstrate achievements in this area implies that such displays may enter the mass consumer market in the future.

The world’s largest smartphone manufacturer even shared a video showing a stretchable 13-inch OLED panel.

As the source notes, such a screen deformation can add another dimension to the display plane. It is still difficult to say how practical such screens will be for consumer electronics. The main thing is that it was not an innovation for the sake of innovation itself — the developers came up with interesting scenarios for using the technology that could bring interaction with devices to a new level.
