See how the latest cruise missile launch system works

The US Air Force, along with Lockheed Martin, showed how the new cruise missile launch system works.

The video showed a new concept called the Rapid Dragon. It shows how cruise missiles are dropped from C-17 and EC-130 aircraft. Such a strategy could increase the US striking power.

Testing of equipment was carried out in the summer over the White Sands missile test site in the state of New Mexico.

Representatives of the Lockheed Martin company, which organized the event in conjunction with the US Air Force, said that during the tests it was possible to verify all the main aspects of the work. In particular, the release of JASSM-ER cruise missiles. After that, it became clear that such an algorithm works and can be used. The carriers were C-17 and EC-130 aircraft.

The project aims to increase the strike power with cruise missiles. Previously, the missiles were launched from the B-1 Lancer strategic bomber. But they were not enough, and recently they decided to write off some of the cars and no longer use them.
