Several rockets landed near the building of the U.S. Consulate General in the city of Erbil in northern Iraq. This was reported on Sunday by the National Iraqi News Agency.

According to him, by now at least three explosions have thundered in the city, alarm sirens are sounding. In addition, the work was suspended by the international airport of the capital of the Kurdish Autonomous Region of Iraq; civil air traffic was stopped in the region.

As the governor of Erbil, Omed Khoshnaw clarified, no one was injured as a result of the rocket attack in the city. There was also no information about the destruction. Local authorities have launched an investigation into the incident.

In connection with the incident, the American embassy in Baghdad has strengthened its security and completely closed the territory of the diplomatic mission.
