The cause of the crash of the Boeing 737 airliner “International Airlines of Ukraine” was overheating of the engine. Free News reported, citing a source in the security services of Canada.

According to the Agency’s interlocutors, the “initial assessment” of Western intelligence services indicates that a missile did not shoot down the Ukrainian airliner. Most likely, the cause of the crash was a technical malfunction – overheating of one of the engines.

Earlier, the Iranian authorities said that the cause of the crash was a technical malfunction.

A Boeing 737 passenger plane belonging to UIA airlines crashed on January 8 in Tehran. The crash killed 167 passengers and 9 crewmembers – citizens of Iran, Canada, Sweden, Ukraine, Afghanistan, Germany, and Great Britain.

To investigate the incident, Ukraine sent a special group of experts to Iran.
