Startup Tour 2022 was held in the Kazan IT Park on April 7. The finalists this year were the startups of the Innopolis SEZ.

The main topic of discussion was the issue of innovative support for the region. Experts and participants of the event discussed what is needed for the development of promising technology startups, as well as what opportunities are available for entrepreneurs in difficult times. In addition, the speakers discussed which platforms and services can be useful for business development and scaling.

However, the main event of the day was the start-up competition. A total of 97 applications were submitted, of which the experts selected only 15. These are the strongest projects in the areas of “Information Technology”, “Industrial and Energy Technologies” and “Biotechnologies in Medicine and Agriculture”. The winner of the grand final was the NeuroWood project. This IT system helps to measure the required volume and fix the dimensions of the wood using segmentation and a neural network.

The Green Growth, Hemoscan and NeuroRobot projects became the finalists of the Biotechnologies in Medicine and Agriculture direction. At the same time, the start-ups of the Innopolis SEZ received the first and second places. Green Growth is a yield monitoring system, and Hemoscan is engaged in laboratory diagnostics for veterinary medicine.

This is the third Startup Tour in which my team and I took part. The event was held at the highest level: traditionally interesting, eventful, with interesting people, new acquaintances. We are satisfied with our result, but thanks to very strong participants, we saw that there is room to grow. We plan to further develop the product, strengthen the contacts that have arisen, and hope to participate in the Startup Village this year with the best practices that we already have.

According to Oleg Protopopov, Director of the Attraction Department of the Innopolis SEZ, the special economic zone has everything necessary for the development of start-ups. The ecosystem of Innopolis consists of a simplified system for applying for startup status, personnel support from the Recruitment Center Innopolis, the University, grants from partners, venture funds, co-working spaces, events and networking.
