At the end of last week, Tesla announced the completion of the Berlin Gigafactory. During this event, it became known that the Model Y electric vehicles, which will be assembled in Germany, will indeed have a new body, consisting of only two separate parts. Today it became known that these electric vehicles will have a new accumulator unit made of 4680 batteries built into the body. The information became known after the demonstration of the assembly lines of the German giant plant.

Some time ago, Elon Musk spoke about the advantages of the new coupe, which will be used in Model Y crossovers assembled in Germany. It is a construction of two cast parts, between which the battery pack itself is located. Thus, the weight of the electric vehicle has been reduced by 10%, and the range has increased by 14%. More importantly, the process has been greatly simplified as 370 fewer components are used to assemble the same body using the new technology. A demonstration at the Berlin Gigafactory showed what the design of a new compartment with a battery pack looks like.

The 4680 battery pack itself has become part of the housing that connects the front and rear of the chassis. The chassis, together with the battery pack, is an integral part of the coupe, with the electric vehicle seats attached to the battery pack itself. Thus, the production of Model Y has been greatly optimized.
