According to radar tracking data, the plane was outside the closed airspace directly above the Capitol all the time.

The evacuation of Capitol staff was carried out because of an airplane with members of the Golden Knights parachute detachment of the U.S. Army, heading from Andrews Military Base (Maryland) to Nationals Park Stadium in Washington, where the parachutists were supposed to perform before a baseball game. This was reported by The Associated Press (AP).

According to him, the Capitol police notified employees of the threat when the plane circled within the closed airspace near the Capitol building complex. According to radar tracking data, the plane was outside the closed airspace directly above the Capitol all the time, AP notes.

Sources told the agency that investigators are still investigating why the flight of the plane was not properly coordinated with law enforcement officials in Washington. The agency’s interlocutors noted that, according to preliminary data, the pilot probably did not report the takeoff properly or did not have the appropriate permission.

Reuters reported that the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration will investigate.
